Parents and Family - Centenary Philanthropists

Each year, Centenary's Office of Development works with parents of current students to identify a specific, campus need that is extremely important to YOU and YOUR student(s), and thereby is deserving of a separate fundraising campaign.

2007-2008 PARENT CAMPAIGN

Parents and family are invited to give to the Campus Safety Fund, which will provide supplemental funds for Centenary's Department of Public Safety (aka DPS) and for campus programs that educate students about personal safety.

Accolades for DPS from a current student:
"I want to thank DPS for the amazing job they've been doing this past year. If an incoming student were to ask me if I feel safe on campus, I would tell them yes... I am not alone in my feelings about DPS. Everyone that I've talked to appreciates the fact that DPS has been able to simultaneously make us feel safer while allowing us to be college students and actually have fun on the weekends... There are now three positive things that I can say about Centenary when I talk to prospective students: amazing teachers, beautiful campus, and, now, excellent campus security."

UPDATE: As of May 2008, parents of current students and alumni gifts to the Parent Fund for Campus Safety total more than $21,200!

2006-2007 PARENT CAMPAIGN

Parents and family were invited (via letters and phonathon) to give to the Student Career Development Fund, which provides supplemental funds for the Office of Career Services.

2006-2007 CAMPAIGN RESULTS
350 parents and family gave more than $18,500 to the "Student Career Development Fund."

HOW YOUR 2006-2007 GIFTS ARE BEING USED
As a result of your generous gifts, Centenary's Office of Career Services launched several new initiatives:

  • CAREERlink (Job Posting and Career Resource Site) - accessible 24x7, this web-based job posting and career resource site streamlines student and employer registration, resume referrals, resume management, placement tracking, job posting and career fair management, resume books and alumni mentoring.
  • VAULT (Online Career Resource Library) - this online career resource library addresses all occupational areas with career books, occupational guides, and directories that can be used to clarify and confirm students initial impressions about a career field and to obtain occupational descriptions.
  • Perfect Interview (On-line Practice Interviews) - this computer program allows students to schedule a practice interview at anytime during the year and record their interview for later review.

Centenary thanks you, parents and family! Your gifts mean the difference between maintenance of a great college and the evolution of an extraordinary one!
