The Community Questionnaire

The Service Learning Questionnaire servces as a tool for students to critically analyze their Service Learning experience with the Community Partner in which they chose to serve.

Upon completetion of the Community Questionnaire, students answers are evaluated by members of the Centenary Plan Committee for the attainment of individual learning objectives and program assessment.

Instructions for the Community Program Questionnaire

Please type answers to all questions with responses to questions 1-4 at least 300 words (~½ page) long. Your responses should not merely be answers to sub-questions, but rather, overall reflections on the larger question. The sub-questions below are intended to get you started thinking about the larger (numbered) questions.

1. Describe your Community setting.
• Who is served by this program/project/course?
• Find out from the leaders of the program/project/course, what the purpose of the program/project/course in which you served is? What did/do you think the purpose is?
• What service(s) did you perform for the program/project/course? How do those actions support its mission/purpose?
• How do you see the program/project/course achieving its mission/purpose?

2. What does your choice of Community program/project/course say about you?
• Why did you choose this program/project/course?
• What personal and/or scholastic skills and abilities did you use during your participation?
• What skills and abilities do you have that may have been useful, but weren’t used?
• How did what you did make a difference?

3. What did you learn from your Community experience about yourself and/or your program/project/course?
If you don’t believe you learned anything about yourself from this experience, explain why and what could have been done to make your experience better.

4. Design and describe your ideal service project.
• Who would you serve? Why?
• What would you do? Why?

5. Will you continue in service to your community after you leave Centenary College?
