Faculty Instructions for Banner Web

What You Can View

The Web for Students is divided into a public area that contains options to view a directory, the college catalog, or the schedule of classes. There is also an option to log on to a secured area that is accessible only by using an identification number and a personal pin number. Faculty can now view information concerning their students, their advisees and their classes. You will be using the web to enter your grades and register your advisees. You may also choose an option to view your personal information, your employment services, or, if you have been a recent student, your student record. You will also be able to update or correct your permanent address or your off-campus address. All of these services will enable you, the faculty member, to have ready access to information that may enhance your role as an advisor and an instructor.

Your Personal Responsibility to Maintaining the Security of your Records

Each employee has a social security number. You will also select a personal pin number to use for your access to the Web. It is your responsibility to maintain the same security for your identification number and your pin number that you do for your bank pin numbers. Remember that you will have access to all of your academic and financial information, so you must protect your privacy. In addition, you will have access to your students' educational records and you are required by law (FERPA) to protect your students' privacy.

Class Information

  • Select a term. All of the Faculty Services section is keyed to a term, so you must always select a term.
  • Select a CRN (Course Reference Number). Identify the course you want to access.
  • View your class rosters. You may view either a summary class list or a detailed class list. You will note highlighted links under each student's name. You may access information on your students from these highlighted links.
  • Enter Midterm Grades. Enter your grades from this option. Select the grade you want to enter from the pull-down box beside each student's name. Submit the grades.
  • Enter Final Grades. Enter your final grades from this option. Select the grade from the pull-down box. Submit the grades. • If you have submitted your grades and find that you have made an error, you may change and resubmit the grade as long as the Grades Rolled Column says NO. Once the grades have been rolled, the option to enter grades disappears and the Grades Rolled Column changes to YES. At this point, you must come to the Registrar's Office to submit a grade change.
    • You must SUBMIT your grades every 10 minutes or you will be required to log in again. You may submit grades for an entire class or for a single student. Students may view their grades from the Student Web.
