Religious Studies Department Overview
Religion and religious differences have shaped the modern world. Competing social movements rooted in religion campaign to change society, often in contradictory and complicated ways. Meanwhile, individuals turn to religion to understand their place in the universe and give meaning to their lives. The questions religion raises cannot be avoided. The Religious Studies Department encourages students to explore religious beliefs, practices, and values in their cultural context. In the process, they will learn about their own beliefs, practices, and values, and how to thrive in a pluralistic world. Majoring in Religious Studies prepares students to thrive as they tackle some of our most urgent problems.
