WEDDING POLICIES

1. All weddings are to be scheduled directly with the Conferences & Facilities Coordinator.  At the time of the scheduling, the couple will complete a Wedding Information Sheet and a Lease Agreement.  A wedding will not be scheduled without these forms and a $100.00 refundable security deposit.

2. The Chapel(s) of Centenary College is available only for wedding ceremonies celebrating a lawful union according to the Louisiana state laws.  A rededication ceremony of a lawful union is permissible.

3. Weddings are scheduled for the entire day to accommodate preparations and clean up.  The couple is responsible for informing florists, photographers and wedding party of their schedules, as well as for cleaning the Chapel after the wedding.

4. Included in the Chapel charges is an evening for the wedding rehearsal.  Also included in the rental fee at no additional charge, are candle lighters (with no wick), a kneeler with pad, microphones, podium, and a piano.

5. ALCOHOL is not permitted on campus; food & drink are not permitted in the Chapel.

6. Animals, with the exception of guide animals, are not permitted in the Chapel.

7. Certain fixtures in the Chapel may not be moved (for example but not limited to, the altar railing) due to their delicate constructions.  Consult with the Conferences & Facilities Coordinator if any fixtures need to be moved or removed before the wedding.  DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, move any Chapel fixture; this must be done by our Facilities Services personnel.  No decoration of any kind may be placed on the organ pipes or wind chest and the organ console may not be moved.

8. Candles can be used only on the altar area and they must be dripless.  Candles should be extinguished and removed from the Chapel immediately after the event.  Waxed paper or plastic must be used under all candelabras.  Candles cannot be used in the windows or down the aisle.

9. Flowers, floral equipment, and all personal belongings must be removed by 12:00 p.m. on the Sunday following the wedding, unless a Centenary event is to take place on the Sunday, then clean up must be done on Saturday night.

10. Music arrangements, whether or not they require the use of the Chapel organ, must be coordinated with Dr. Holly Watson.  If you request her services, her charges are extra, and are paid directly to her.  She can be reached at 222-0604 est 210..

11. The Chaplain of the College is  Rev. Betsy Eaves.  She may be reached at 318-869-5156.

12. Centenary College is not responsible for any valuables lost or left behind in the Chapel.

13. In the event a wedding is canceled the $100.00 security deposit is nonrefundable.

14. NO RICE, BIRDSEED, ROSE PETALS, ETC. MAY BE THROWN IN OR AROUND BROWN CHAPEL AT ANY WEDDING.  These items could potentially create a liability by someone slipping on them.

15. The bride and/or groom may have access to the Chapel for the entire weekend of your scheduled wedding.  Anyone needing to get in the Chapel prior to the wedding will need to first notify the Conference & Facilities Office at 869-5015.  To gain access to the chapel anytime after hours or on the weekend contact Public Safety at 869-5000 in order for Chapel to be unlocked.

16. An alumnus is defined as any person receiving a degree from Centenary College of Louisiana.  They must be related to the bride or groom as a parent or sibling in order to receive the Alumni discount.  The name and year of graduation must be written on wedding information sheet.

17. Current student is defined as any person currently attending Centenary College of Louisiana.  The bride or groom must be attending Centenary at the time of the wedding in order to receive the Student discount.

18. Employee is defined as anyone presently employed by Centenary College of Louisiana.  The bride or groom must be an employee at the time of the wedding in order to receive the Employee discount.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

* Main Chapel seats approximately 600 including the balcony.
* Please make sure that your florist, decorator, coordinator, etc. know about the decorating guidelines, scheduling visits to the chapel, sound and lighting instructions, clean up, etc. so that your full deposit can be returned.
* Depending on the status of the chapel, a check request will be sent to the Centenary College business office the week after your wedding.  You should receive a check in the mail approximately two – three weeks after your wedding.  The deposit will be sent to the bride's mailing address unless otherwise noted.
* The bride's room is the Small Chapel located on the West of the main Chapel.
* The groom’s room is located in the back hallway of the main chapel (behind the altar).
* Handicapped accessible on the West side.
* Sound system and lighting instructions available by appointment only.  There will be extra charges for a Centenary employee to assist in this part of the ceremony.
* A mandatory $100.00 insurance fee is required for all weddings.

MUSIC GUIDELINES

Please contact the College Organist, Dr. Holly Watson, as soon as your date is set through the Conference & Facilities Coordinator.  She is the only person authorized to play the organ for weddings in the Chapel, but on rare occasions, others may be engaged.  Dr. Watson will be glad to assist you with any questions you may have about appropriate musical choices, but please make NO commitments regarding music or musical performers before you confer with her.  If you do not intend to have any organ music for your wedding, she will need to know that also.

For specific fee information, contact Dr. Watson.  The basic fee will cover a music planning conference, performance at the wedding rehearsal (at which time the fee is due), and at the wedding itself.  If soloists or other musicians are to be involved together with the organ, then some appropriate extra charges will be made.  Please contact her for all these variable details.  She may be reached at the following telephone number:

WEDDING FEE SCHEDULE

Wedding fees and insurance must be paid in full seven (7) days prior to the wedding.  The rental fee may be paid in cash, money order or check made payable to Centenary College.
