Student: Daniel Ewing

Junior Daniel Ewing has known about Centenary College his whole life—both his parents attended the College, and his cousin even got married in Centenary’s Brown Chapel this summer! But when deciding on a university, it wasn’t just the family loyalty that convinced him to stay in Shreveport. "I chose Centenary because of the small population, the solid Greek system, the chance to play lacrosse, and the political science department and pre law program," he says.

And what a good decision it was! "Since being at Centenary I've gotten to participate in regional Kappa Alpha conferences, play lacrosse as the team’s goalie, and travel all over the country to represent Centenary at different national fencing tournaments (most recently the National Championships)," Daniel says of his two years at Centenary. "Next summer I’ll hopefully be going on Module to Germany!"

A true testament to the strength of the College’s Greek population, Daniel says "To me it seemed that I experience all that Centenary has to offer because of my fraternity. I have participated in and enjoyed different service organizations and have gotten to host events at the fraternity house. I have met and gotten to know some of our alumni who are very influential with the administration. The fraternity has allowed me to give back to Centenary as much as it gives to me." Like many students, the smaller size of the Greek system and the unique diversity Centenary students bring to its ranks renders it a meaningful place for Daniel.

Whether he’s spending time with his fraternity brothers or breathing life into some of Centenary’s most interesting opportunities as the president of both the Lacrosse team and the Centenary Fencing Club, Daniel knows he is making memories he will always cherish. He says, "Centenary to me is the friendships that I'll have my whole life and the education to help me get to where I want to go."
