About the Office of Community
Office of Community Staff

Chris is a Centenary College of Louisiana alumnus, who also holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Louisiana State University. He has been working at Centenary as the Director of Service-Learning since August of 2008, and in just one year he has changed the face of Service-Learning at Centenary for the better.
He firmly believes in integrity and optimism as two of his guiding principles, and works hard to ensure that each Service-Learning student has a meaningful experience. His open-door policy and willingness to meet students half-way are just a few examples of his “students first” attitude. Chris has big plans and high hopes for the future of the Office of Community, and is willing to do whatever he can to make it happen. Chris is a firm believer in the quote, "If we want to lift up ourselves, we must first learn to lift up others." (Booker T. Washington)

Sarah graduated from Florida International University in August of 2008 with a B.A. in International Relations and a Certificate in European Studies. She learned about AmeriCorps VISTA during college and decided to take a year off to serve after graduation. Her first VISTA year left her wanting to do more, so when she heard about the position at Centenary, it seemed like a perfect fit.
At Centenary, Sarah will be working to enhance service-learning options for students by building bridges between community partners and faculty members. Says Sarah, "I'm thrilled I have the opportunity to really empower students to make service their own, so that they can better understand their unique value as a community member, and really get excited about the possibilities of service-learning."
