Centenary Covid-19 Guidelines

Masks

Individuals are welcome to mask at any campus meeting or event, as needed or desired. Masks are not required campus-wide. Masks may be required in classrooms, offices, or personal residence hall rooms, or at campus events.

Specifically:

  • Faculty may require masks to be worn in their classrooms and lab spaces. Faculty are asked to provide notice in writing via syllabi, Canvas, or email of mask requirements.
  • Event organizers may require masks at specific events. Notice of any mask requirement should be communicated in advance.
  • Individuals may require visitors to wear masks in their offices or other private spaces. Individuals in shared office spaces should coordinate within the unit in consultation with their supervisor.

Vaccines

COVID-19 Vaccination: Consistent with overall vaccine policy, students must present proof of vaccination or submit a waiver request.

Dear Centenary Community,

As we begin a new academic year, I know there have been questions about Centenary’s COVID protocols. The College has been monitoring the current guidance and infection trends and the actions of our peer institutions. As you know, both the virus and individual and institutional responses continue to change rapidly. I ask that we continue to adopt an attitude of grace as we all deal with such uncertainty and fluidity.

In determining policies, we have taken multiple factors into consideration. As always, our first priority is to ensure a safe community at Centenary. This entails supporting and balancing the physical and mental health needs of our students. We also acknowledge the costs in both time and money required for monitoring vaccine status, testing, and contact tracing in light of the discontinuation of any federal funding for COVID relief. Finally, we have taken note of and are grateful for increased individual responsibility and accountability in monitoring their health and, when necessary, testing and staying home when ill.

We will continue to adjust policies as the situation warrants, but as of August 1, 2022, the following policies have been adopted:

All members of the Centenary community are expected to comply respectfully with requests or requirements to wear masks.

COVID-19 Vaccination: Consistent with overall vaccine policy, students must present proof of vaccination or submit a waiver request.

Thank you. I am looking forward to an exciting and productive year.
