Shreveport native Denny E. Gamble, Sr. attended Louisiana State University after graduating from Fairpark High School. During his second year at LSU, he was drafted into the United States Army. Upon completion of his service, Dr. Gamble enrolled at Centenary, receiving his bachelor's degree in 1951 and then pursuing a degree in Podiatric Medicine from the Chicago College of Chiropody.

Returning to Shreveport, Dr. Gamble practiced podiatry at the Gamble Foot Clinic from 1952 until 1998. In addition to his practice, Dr. Gamble managed nursing homes and hospitals in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Tennessee. His appointment to the State Board of Medical Examiners from 1984 to 1988 did not slow his personal practice or other professional activities. He also found time to pursue his avocation of building prefabricated camp houses. Dr. Gamble continued to build and remodel homes until 2012.

The family of Dr. Denny Gamble, Sr. has established this annual scholarship in his memory to provide tuition assistance to deserving Centenary College students. The 2020-2021 academic year recipient of The Dr. Denny E. Gamble, Sr. Memorial Annual Scholarship is sophomore Isabella Brown. Isabella is a member of the Ladies Swim Team, Chemistry Club, Beliefs and Values, The Big One Club, Multicultural Student Association, and the Diversity Committee.

“My scholarship has given me the opportunity to come to Centenary College and really enjoy myself. Without my scholarships, I would not be able to go here, and I know this is the place for me to be. Thank you very much for your generous donation.”
