Centenary named among nation's top colleges

Forbes has named Centenary College of Louisiana one of the South's "Top 100" colleges for 2014 in its annual ranking released Wednesday. The College climbed nine spots to 99 from the 2013 list.

Centenary listed as "Best Value" among Harvard, Yale

Centenary was recently listed in the top ten in Kiplinger's Best Values in Private Colleges Under $20K for 2014. The online report featured schools from Kiplinger's annual rankings that have high "sticker prices" but a total net cost of attendance of $20,000 or less after need-based and institutional aid. The top ten also included Harvard, Yale, Amherst, along with several elite institutions with substantial endowments and need-based aid programs.

Centenary College ranked nationally as a "Best Value"

Kiplinger's Personal Finance has recognized Centenary on its list of the country's best values in private colleges. Centenary and the other schools on the list also exemplify the attributes parents and students look for in higher education, including small class sizes, a good freshman retention rate, and a high four-year graduation rate. Centenary jumped fourteen spots in the ranking this year, from 88 to 74.

Centenary named Tier One for third straight year

Centenary was named a Tier One National Liberal Arts College for the third year in a row in the 2014 U.S. News & World Report ranking. The College again joins other members of the Associated Colleges of the South in the top tier, including Sewanee, Southwestern, and Rhodes. Colleges recognized in the U.S. News ranking emphasize undergraduate education and award at least half of their degrees in the arts and sciences.

Centenary rises in Washington Monthly ranking

Centenary improved its ranking for the fourth straight year among top liberal arts colleges in the eighth annual Washington Monthly College Guide and Rankings. Known as "a different kind of college guide," Washington Monthly ranks colleges and universities that serve a variety of public interests "and provide a great college experience at the same time."

Centenary named in "The Best 378 Colleges"

According to The Princeton Review's annual college guide, "The Best 378 Colleges," Centenary is one of the nation's best institutions for undergraduate education. Only about 15 percent of America's 2,500 four-year colleges are included, and Centenary has made the list every year since 2004. Centenary was also one of 138 schools to make the list of "The Best Southeastern Colleges."

Centenary scores top financial marks in Forbes national ranking

Centenary received an "A" grade for financial fitness in Forbes' annual ranking of "America’s Top Colleges." For the sixth consecutive year, Centenary was named one of the "Best Private Colleges" and "Best Colleges in the South." The College is among the top 13 percent of institutions in the nation and the only school in Louisiana to receive an "A."

Centenary faculty named among Top 25 Best

A new report on CBS MoneyWatch recognized Centenary College as one of the Top 25 Colleges with the Best Professors. Centenary is the only institution in the Ark-La-Tex area to receive this distinction. The Center for College Affordability and Productivity compiled the list from the more than 15 million student ratings of college professors on RateMyProfessors.com.

Centenary named to 2013 President's Community Service Honor Roll

For the eighth year in a row, Centenary has been named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. The list recognizes the nation's leading higher education institutions that reflect the values of exemplary community service and achieve meaningful outcomes in their communities. A total of 690 higher education institutions were named to the 2013 Honor Roll. Combined, the Honor Roll awardees engaged 3.1 million students in community service for a total of 118 million service hours. The economic impact of this service is valued at 2.5 billion dollars.

Centenary named a Tier One National Liberal Arts College for second year

Centenary earned the distinction of Tier One National Liberal Arts College for the second year in a row by U.S. News & World Report. The College joins other selective, residential liberal arts colleges from the Associated Colleges of the South (ACS) in the top tier, including Rhodes, Washington & Lee, and Southwestern. Centenary’s ranking was based on several key measures of quality, including undergraduate academic reputation and graduation and retention rates. Institutions listed as National Liberal Arts Colleges emphasize undergraduate education and award at least half of their degrees in the liberal arts.

Washington Monthly Recognizes Centenary's Contribution to the Public Good

Centenary has been named among top liberal arts colleges for Washington Monthly's 2012 College Guide, which ranks schools that make a significant contribution to the public good. Centenary joins 12 of the 16 Associated Colleges of the South (ACS), including Millsaps, Rhodes, Southwestern, and Hendrix, in the top 100 of the Washington Monthly's ranking. The College has the lowest net price of attendance of all the colleges in the ACS, and received a score of 45, ranking 90 among 200 liberal arts colleges. Centenary also joins 12 other United Methodist-related colleges in the ranking.

Centenary recognized among top 15 percent of all U.S. colleges

Centenary has been named among the top 15 percent of all four-year colleges in the country, according to the Princeton Review. The Princeton Review noted Centenary as being one of the "Best 377 Colleges," "Best Southeastern Colleges," and "Best Value Private Colleges for 2012."

Centenary Heralds Financial Sustainability Marks

Centenary was named in a national report in the top 20 percent of institutions based on financial sustainability. The study of 1,692 colleges and universities found that while one-third are on an "unsustainable path," Centenary is doing very well.

Centenary Named One of America's Top Colleges, Second Among Louisiana Institutions

For the fifth consecutive year, Forbes named Centenary as one of the nation's top colleges. Centenary joins a select group of institutions, representing just 15 percent of the nearly 4,000 colleges in the United States, to be named as one of "America's Top Colleges" and "Best Private Colleges" by Forbes.com.
