The Meadows Museum of Art at Centenary College has a rich history in the Shreveport community. The museum opened in 1975 with a collection of 360 paintings by French Academic artist Jean Despujols. The collection has grown over the years and now comprises of more than 1,600 works. An essential part of the Centenary College campus, the museum is dedicated to engaging the community through an innovative academic discourse of the arts through programming, educational opportunities, and free museum entry. Generous donations to the museum have helped support numerous projects including outdoor sculptures, the spring Art in the Meadows event, as well as many other exhibits.

Alissa Brown Klaus, a 2015 graduate of Centenary College, has been in her role as the new director of the museum for just over three months and the excitement she is bringing to the campus is contagious. She notes, “The director position combines several of my skills and passions, including community engagement, increasing access to the arts, and fundraising and strategic planning for arts organizations. I am excited to return to Shreveport and Centenary’s campus, bringing with me the knowledge and skills I have developed over the past six years.”

One of the first projects Alissa excitedly took on was looking at the Friends of the Meadows and ways to improve the memberships for donors. Donors can directly support the museum's mission and activities by becoming a Meadows Museum of Art Member. Members will receive exclusive opportunities to engage with the Museum, including access to members-only exhibition previews.

You can become a member by making a gift of $50 or more to any of the following areas Meadows Museum Operations, Meadows Directorship Endowment, and Meadows Museum Special Project Fund. 100% of your donation will support the Meadows Museum. Click here to become a Friend of the Meadows Museum.
