The Krewe of Centenary event recently finished its second year as a new initiative to get to know our future alumni. To ensure the event was fun and well attended, the Development Department partnered with Student Life.  During this festive day, students get to know the Development team while also gaining knowledge about the importance of donors to Centenary. The hope is that the relationships the Development Department establishes with current students can result in a better understanding of alumni giving and convert to future supporters of the College. 
Many of our students from outside of Louisiana have never experienced Mardi Gras and know nothing about carnival season. Holly Grose, Assistant Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations, said “This gave us an opportunity to ask students to write thank you notes to Centenary donors, eat King Cake from local bakeries, and learn tips on how to Mardi Gras safely.” 


This year we had King Cakes from Lowder’s, Julie Anne’s, and Lilah’s Bakeries. “We were swamped most of the day with students, faculty, and staff stopping by to enjoy king cake. Friends Nutrition was also on-site giving out energy teas which is always a huge hit with our campus community,” said Grose. In addition, the Krewe of Centenary introduced its first parade. Centenary President, Dr. Christopher Holoman, and Mrs. Connie Holoman served as the Grand Marshals of the parade, followed by five walking groups, three golf carts, and three ATVs provided by High Lifter. Everyone left the parade with necks filled with beads and handfuls of moon pies. After the parade, an unintentional block party broke out with dancing and smiles. “A huge thanks to the team at High Lifter for participating and providing music for the block party,” said Grose.
