Centenary Book Bazaar raises more than $50,000

The Centenary Muses’ annual Book Bazaar raised more than $50,000 in just two days. The event was at the Centenary Fitness Center on September 12-13, 2025.

The Muses organization provides funds for Centenary campus projects and programs to enhance student life.  They have raised more than a million dollars since starting the Book Bazaar 38 years ago. In recent years, the Muses have helped fund lockers for the baseball team, dumbbells for the Fitness Center, pool and ping pong tables in the Student Union, and technical support for Marjorie Lyons Playhouse.

“The Muses are committed to their support of Centenary College as well as making books affordable to the community,” said Tucker Smathers, Muses president. “We are always happy to see how many people flock to the Book Bazaar, every year.  We love seeing so many book lovers.”

This year’s bazaar boasted more than 60,000 books, DVDs, CD, and records. The Centenary Book House is ready to accept donations that will be sold at next year’s Book Bazaar.  For more information, call the Book House at 318.869.5710 or go to Centenary Square at 108 East Kings Highway. The Book House is open Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.
