SHREVEPORT, LA — The Centenary College Brass Ensemble will present its fall concert on Monday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Anderson Auditorium. The concert features a variety of musical styles from the Baroque period to the 20th century and is free and open to the public.

“The Centenary Brass Ensemble is an 11-mmeber mix of Centenary students, alumni, and faculty,” says Tom Hundemer, lecturer in music at Centenary. “One unusual element of the group is that we perform without a conductor which challenges the group to develop strong listening and ensemble skills.”

The fall concert features a range of music from the Baroque period to the 20th Century with pieces by English composers such as Henry Purcell and John Stanley alongside selections from J.S. Bach, Russian and Spanish flavored music by Mussorgsky and Enrique Granados, and Hungary's Bela Bartok and the jazz classic "Take 5" by Paul Desmond and Dave Brubeck. "Take 5" adds electric guitar, drums and piano to the group for a rousing finish to the concert.

The Brass Ensemble presents concerts twice a year and also plays for special events at Centenary.
