Centenary celebrates Homecoming October 31-November 5

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College will welcome current students and alumni to campus for a week of Homecoming events beginning Monday, October 31 with a concert by Centenary Camerata and concluding with a full day of celebrations, athletic events, and the Centenary College Choir’s annual “Rhapsody in View” performance on Saturday, November 5.

“We are very much looking forward to having alumni back on campus for Homecoming 2022,” said Katie Chopin, director of Alumni & Family Relations. “I am particularly excited about the inaugural Forward 5 luncheon. This new award honors young alumni who uphold the mission of the College: 'Centenary College prepares global citizens to live productive lives of vitality and purpose.'”

The 2022 Alumni Awards Dinner will be held on Thursday, November 3, at 6:00 p.m. in the Centenary Fitness Center. The Awards Dinner honors alumni who have brought distinction to the College, and this year’s awards include:

  • Alumni Hall of Fame – Dr. John George ‘82
  • Alumni Loyalty Award – Kay Grammer Camp ‘77
  • Young Alumni Leadership Award – Cheredith Rhone ‘17
  • Honorary Alumni – Dr. Harold & Dr. Betsy Christensen
  • Bentley Sloane Award – Valerie Robideaux ‘03

The inaugural Forward 5 luncheon will take place on Friday, November 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Whited Room. This new award recognizes five young alumni, across a variety of fields, for having made a significant impact in business, research, leadership, public service and/or philanthropic endeavors. The Forward 5 recipients include:

  • Charlie Matter ‘07
  • Margaret McDonald ‘08
  • Versha Sharma ‘09
  • Kendall Hughes Robinson ‘13
  • MarvKevea Campbell ‘16
