SHREVEPORT, LA — Shreveport’s KTBS Channel 3 will air its annual Christmas special featuring the Centenary College Choir on Sunday, December 20, at 9:30 p.m. on KPXJ and Thursday, December 24, at 10:35 p.m., following the 10:00 p.m. newscast, on KTBS Channel 3. The Choir’s performance will also air in conjunction with a performance by the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra on Christmas morning, Friday, December 25, at 9:00 a.m.

The choir program will rotate with other programming on KTBS’s digital channel during the holiday week.

Special care was taken to accomplish the audio recording indoors with masks and social distancing. The recording was then merged with an outdoor video presentation shot in Centenary’s newly renovated Hargrove Amphitheater.

“There’s no doubt the pandemic has been hard on all of us, from the economics of businesses and restaurants to the tragic loss of loved ones,” said Dr. David Hobson, director of the Centenary College Choir. “We’ve always viewed the Centenary Choir Christmas program as a holiday gift to the community, and especially this year, we felt we needed to make sure this could happen. Christmas always has a spirit of newness, from the joyous anticipation of opening gifts on Christmas to God’s gift of the incarnation and new creation. We offer our gift in the spirit of the transcendent hope we all need to hear in these difficult days.”
