Centenary hosts Shreveport Bar Association Law Week panel, “Cornerstones of Democracy”

SHREVEPORT – Centenary will host a distinguished panel of local legal experts during the Shreveport Bar Association’s 2023 Law Week on Wednesday, April 26, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in Kilpatrick Auditorium. The panel discussion, "Cornerstones of Democracy: Civics, Civility, and Collaboration,” is free and open to the public.

In celebration of the Shreveport Bar Association’s annual Law Week, local lawyers and judges will present a panel on topics ranging from voting rights (including the Voting Rights Act, felon disenfranchisement, and voter identification and rolls), the 1st Amendment (including protests and expression in the workplace), and the 2nd Amendment. The panelists will share anecdotes from their practice and their predictions on anticipated changes in state and federal laws.

Panelists include Centenary alumna and local attorney Gemma Zuniga, of Thomas, Soileau, Jackson & Cole, L.L.P.; Allison Jones, of Downer, Jones, Marino & Wilhite; and 2nd Circuit Court of Appeal judge Shonda Stone.

Passport Points will be available for Centenary students who attend.
