Centenary Nights announced for “Peter and the Starcatcher” at Marjorie Lyons Playhouse

SHREVEPORT, LA — The Centenary Theatre Program (CTP) is hosting two free “Centenary Nights” for its production of Peter and the Starcatcher at Marjorie Lyons Playhouse, a collaboration with Shreveport theatre company Stage Center. The Centenary Nights are Tuesday, March, and Wednesday, March 16, at 7:30pm.

Peter and the Starcatcher, by Rick Elice with music by Wayne Barker, is based on the best-selling novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. This "absurdly funny, fantastical story" (Entertainment Weekly) upends the century-old tale of how a miserable orphan boy becomes the legendary Peter Pan. In this five-time Tony Award-winning play, a dozen brilliant actors play more than 100 unforgettable characters using enormous talent, ingenious stagecraft, and the limitless possibilities of imagination.

Mounting this epic production marks a new collaboration between CTP and Stage Center. The two theatre groups are combining their resources and creative talent to make this actor-driven show a reality.

“This is a huge effort,” said Don Hooper, Centenary Theatre department chair. “We’re excited about working with Stage Center and creating a fantastic experience for our students and our audience.”

Leading the ensemble cast will be Centenary students Charlie Roppolo as Black Stache, Theresa Johnson as Molly Aster, and A.R. Rossomando as Peter. They will be joined onstage by Tyler Garrett, Emma Greer, Channing Hall, Camren Hohn, Cassidy Jones, Kallie Pierce, Sabrina Scott, Theo Soliz, Tucker "PJ" Souther, and Christian Perkins, a student at Stage Center’s School of Performing Arts.

Peter and the Starcatcher is produced by Centenary associate professor of theatre, Logan Sledge, with direction and musical staging by Jared Watson and musical direction and scenic design by Seth Taylor, both of Stage Center. The production features live music by Taylor and Rhonda Honea.

Centenary Nights for Peter and the Starcatcher are not open to the public. Current Centenary students, faculty, and staff must present a Centenary ID to attend. Public performances are scheduled for March 17-20 and require a ticket for all attendees.
