Centenary offers summer art camps for 2016

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College will offer two sessions of Art Camps for children third through eighth grade this summer. Each session is five days long and will meet from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon. Session I will run June 6 through 10 and Session II is June 20 through 24.

"The camps were so much fun last summer!" says Sarah Lagersen Sherry, drawing instructor at Centenary and director of the camp. "I look forward to adding a little more art history into the program this summer as we study American artists and reimagine their creations."

This year, students will be studying a variety of American artists, exploring different genres and playing with an assortment of mediums. They will also have opportunities to get out onto Centenary's campus to find inspiration for their creations. Projects will be tailored to fit each child's abilities.

Classes will take place in Centenary's Turner Art Center. In addition to teaching at Centenary, Sherry has her own architectural design/custom art business and she homeschools her two children.

Centenary College Summer Art Camps are $150 per session, which includes materials and snacks. Email Sarah Sherry at ssherry@centenary.edu for more information. Space is limited to 10 students per session.
