Centenary President headlines event at Robinson Film Center in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary President Christopher L. Holoman will kick off the Robinson Film Center's fall Book Lovers Supper Club series on September 8 with a discussion of Gilead by Marilynne Robinson. The ticketed dinner and discussion event begins at 6:00 p.m. at the RFC in downtown Shreveport.

"I have already come to appreciate how much the Robinson Film Center is a special part of Shreveport, so I was very excited when Dr. Jeff Hendricks asked me to kick off this year’s book series," says Holoman. "I am looking forward to this opportunity to interact with the Shreveport-Bossier community."

The fall 2016 Book Lovers series features community leaders sharing perspectives on a book that has changed their lives. Gilead explores themes of faith and doubt through a series of letters from a dying small-town pastor to his young son.

"Gilead is a remarkable book," says Holoman. "Robinson's prose is gentle but demands careful reading as a meditation on faith, aging, and family. It speaks to many of us."

The RFC created the Book Lovers Supper Club to engage readers who want to enjoy a great meal while exploring our connected world through literature and the arts, including film. The series is presented on a Thursday every other month, and tickets for the dinner and discussion are $22 ($15 for RFC members). Tickets and more information are available at robinsonfilmcenter.org.
