Centenary’s annual Christmas Candlelight Service to be held December 5

Centenary College of Louisiana invites the public to attend its annual Christmas Candlelight Service on Friday, December 5 in Brown Chapel.  It is free to attend. Gathering music begins at 5:30 p.m. The program of Lessons and Carols begins at 6:00 p.m. This year’s theme is “Peace on Earth, Goodwill to All.”  Centenary students, faculty, and staff will read Scripture.

"This year we continue the beautiful, cherished tradition of Lessons and Carols, weaving Scripture, carols, and anthems into the story of God’s faithfulness and incarnation. In a cultural moment marked by tension and division, our theme — ‘Peace on Earth, Goodwill to All’ — affirms that we are bound together in God’s Kingdom and invited to extend love and peace to all our neighbors,” said Rev. Maddie Russo, Centenary College chaplain. “Centenary’s Christmas Candlelight Service is a meaningful and joyful way to enter the holiday season, and we warmly invite the community to share in this celebration with us.”

Music is the heart of the annual service including both choral performances and congregational carol singing.  The Centenary College Choir, under the direction of Dr. David Hobson, and Camerata, under the direction of Dr. Cory Wikan, will be accompanied by organist Dr. Hollice Watson and pianist Dr. Gay Grosz.  A reception will follow the service in the College’s Magale Library.
