Centenary's Meadows Museum schedules Mardi Gras "front porch" party

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary’s Meadows Museum of Art is opening a prime viewing spot for the annual Krewe of Highland Mardi Gras Parade on Sunday, March 3.

The public is invited to join the Friends of the Meadows, a community group supporting the museum, on the Meadows’ front porch beginning at 1:00 p.m. on March 3. The Friends of the Meadows will provide food for the viewing party, and special surprises are in store. The Meadows Museum of Art is located at 2911 Centenary Boulevard on the Centenary College campus, near the intersection of Centenary Boulevard and East Kings Highway.

“The Friends of the Meadows is excited about this front porch party,” says Katy Larson, president of the Friends of the Meadows. “It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase what our organization for the museum and to collaborate with other community organizations in Highland.”

The Krewe of Highland parade rolls at 2:00 p.m. and will pass the Meadows near the end of the route. Parade-goers coming to the front porch party should take note of the fact that streets on the parade route will be closed beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3.
