Centenary students earn top honors for work during Sherwin-Williams internship

Congratulations are in order for Centenary College students Vance Feuerbacher and Daniel Lewis. The pair completed the 2025 Summer Internship Program with Sherwin-Williams’ Texarkana District and took home first place in a regional intern competition held in Dallas, TX.

The competition challenged interns across the region to tackle real business problems and present solutions to improve store performance. Feuerbacher and Lewis’ project delivered measurable results including increased store profits, earning them top honors from Sherwin-Williams leadership.

“The internship allowed me to truly step into the business world and learn hands-on,” said Feuerbacher who interned in Sales and Management. “It wasn’t just about getting a paycheck. It was about understanding each facet of how a successful business operates. Daniel and I worked on a project that had real-world results, and I would absolutely recommend an internship to every college student.”

“It was a nice drive back home from Dallas-Fort Worth after they took first [place]!”  said Sherwin-Williams District Manager Chris Cope, who oversees the Texarkana District.

The Sherwin-Williams internship provides students with a hands-on, high-impact experience in retail operations, sales, and management. The achievement by Feuerbacher and Lewis is a strong reflection of their hard work and the strength of Centenary’s business program.

“It is exciting to see our students engaging in internships and excelling,” said Debbie Bury, Director of Career Developments and Internships at Centenary College.  “Vance and Daniel really encapsulated the ‘high-impact’ of their internship. I encourage all our students to seek out internships before they graduate.  Employers increasingly prioritize skills-based hiring over traditional metrics like GPA and major. Vance and Daniel not only gained hands-on experience but also honed essential skills-- giving them the ability to clearly demonstrate what they have learned and how they could contribute toward positive impact within Sherwin-Williams.”
