Dr. David Bieler to deliver “last lecture” at Centenary April 28

SHREVEPORT – Dr. David Bieler, chair of the geology department at Centenary, will deliver his “last lecture” at 11:10 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, in advance of his retirement at the end of the 2021-2022 academic year.

The lecture, “Lessons from the Grand Canyon,” will be held in the Whited Room in Bynum Commons and is free and open to the public. Masks and social distancing are required for in-person attendees.

Bieler has taught geology at Centenary since 1988 and has mentored generations of students in both geology and the College’s 3/2 engineering program. He did his undergraduate work at Oberlin College and earned graduate degrees from Dartmouth College and the University of Illinois.
