Meadows Museum of Art to feature Centenary alumna’s work

SHREVEPORT – Artist, writer, and 2011 Centenary alumna Sarah Duet’s exhibition, WHAT HAPPENED IS HAPPENING, will be on display at the Meadows Museum of Art at Centenary College from March 7 through April 1, 2022.

Duet’s exhibition will feature various blackout poems taken from her first book, WHAT HAPPENED IS HAPPENING: Poems, which will be released on March 29. Beginning with pages of text such as newspapers, magazines, and books, Duet “blacks out” most of the words on the page. What is left creates a new meaning in the form of a poem. The published collection, which is divided into seven parts, explores a range of topics, including societal chaos, hidden histories, self-reflection, spirituality, and questions of what comes next.

Duet will deliver an artist talk on March 22, at 6:00 p.m. Duet will read excerpts from WHAT HAPPENED IS HAPPENING: Poems and discuss her exhibition. She will be joined in conversation by Centenary alumna and former English professor Jennifer Strange ‘99.
