English Department
The English Department at Centenary offers a program of textual study to train students in careful reading, clear writing, and cogent critical thinking. Centenary English majors have been successful in graduate study, law, medicine, business, nonprofits and other service agencies. The faculty of the department include award-winning teacher-scholars who received their training from such graduate institutions as the University of Wisconsin, University of Virginia, University of Illinois, and Yale University. The professors of the department routinely provide the backbone of the staffing for the First-Year Experience courses at the College.
