Why Choose a Methodist College?

November 2006

Name: Jared Williams, Class of ’05
Major: Psychology
Home Church: First UMC in Monroe, LA

As the son of two Methodist ministers, Jared Williams discerned his own calling into ordained ministry as a young person. His diverse experiences at Centenary College solidified and confirmed his decision to pursue the path of clergy. With leadership positions in Stepping Stones (campus worship service) and active involvement in the United Methodist Student Movement, the Christian Leadership Center and the Centenary College Choir, Jared developed practical skills to prepare him for a life of ministry. He is now attending Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, working toward his master of divinity degree.

"Centenary helped me figure out who I was in relation to God and the world. The college provided me with opportunities to see the world and have once-in-a-lifetime friendships and experiences." – JW
