Cory D. Wikan joined the Hurley School of Music faculty in the fall of 2012 and has served as Dean of the Hurley School of Music since 2018. In addition to leading Camerata, Dr. Wikan teaches choral conducting, music history, music repertoire, and music education courses. Prior to Centenary College, he conducted choirs and taught at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) and Boston University. He also managed the chamber music program for the Aspen Music Festival and School for a number of years. Dr. Wikan has been a guest choral clinician and adjudicator throughout the United States; his scholarly edition of Robert Shaw's English translation of the Brahms Requiem will soon be published by GIA, Inc.; he assisted the editing of the Cambridge Companion to Choral Music (Cambridge University Press, 2012); he was awarded the 2014 Julius Herford Dissertation Prize by the American Choral Directors Association; and has been published in the Choral Journal (June/July 2017). A tenor, Cory occasionally enjoys performing with a variety of professional opera companies, community choruses, and other organizations throughout the United States. Dr. Wikan studied at Luther College, Decorah, IA (B.A. in Music), Northwestern University, Evanston, IL (Master of Music in Voice Performance), the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival of Yale University, Norfolk, CT (fellow), Boston University (Doctor of Musical Arts), and the Oxford Choral Institute of Oxford University, U.K. and Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ (fellow).
