Timothy Wright grew up in Menomonee Falls, a suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois where he received a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1977. In August of 1979 he accepted the position of principal clarinet with the Shreveport Symphony and moved to Louisiana. In 1989 he accepted an IT position with Electronic Data Systems and continued to play for the Shreveport Symphony on an as-needed basis as E-flat clarinet and utility clarinet. In addition, from 1988 to the present, he has been the principal clarinet of the Longview Symphony in Longview, Texas. Since 2003, he has been refacing clarinet mouthpieces for amateur and professional clarinetists across the United States. His mouthpiece work is being played in major symphonies in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Washington DC.
