Scholarship Workshop with Outreach

Join Outreach's VP Jude Williams in the LC from 5-6:30 pm for a guided workshop through the PFLAG New Orleans Queer Scholarship application and its 7 micro essay questions of 200-500 word limits.

Together we will: request your official transcript and submit it, either submit or request both letters of recommendation, and begin answering all 7 short answer essay questions. Hopefully by the end of our Workshop you'll be ready to submit or more than halfway there!

The Scholarship Program offers scholarships of between $1,000 and $10,000 to eligible college students. The PFLAG New Orleans Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding LGBTQ+ students from Louisiana, encourages continuing education for self-identified LGBTQ+ students, and fosters a positive image of LGBTQ+ individuals in society.

If you are from a different state other than LA there are PFLAG groups for every state, ex:PFLAG NWE / North West Arkansas. Contact Jude Williams at hwilliams@my.centenary.edu and you will be paired with your proper state, esp. if you're having trouble.​

Planning Ahead: ALL APPLICANTS MUST HAVE A GMAIL ADDRESS IN ORDER TO APPLY AND SUBMIT AN APPLICATION Photo, Headshot, Selfie/Government or State ID: You will be required to upload a current photo of yourself and your Government or State ID for proof of Louisiana residency when submitting the application.

Transcript Requirement: In order to be eligible for this scholarship, a current official transcript is required from the institution you currently attend.

Important Dates: Please request and send your transcript and letters of recommendation to [scholarship@pflagno.org] by Friday, January 30th, 2026. The application will close on Sunday, February 1st, 2026, at 8 PM CDT. Applicants will know by April 10th if they won & MUST submit written acceptance of award offer by Noon May 1st to the pflag email.

RECIPIENTS MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE SCHOLARSHIP RECEPTION ON SATURDAY MAY 9th 2026 IN NEW ORLEANS, LA (unless physically unable to)
