Magale Library’s first floor will be ID accessible to librarians, information technology workers, students, faculty, and staff in moderation from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Saturday.

Most of our materials can be accessed online within the electronic catalog, subscription databases, or library resources.

You may request physical items such as books, DVDs, etc. for retrieval from the stacks and pick up at specific times during the day. Circulation staff and student assistants will be on-hand to retrieve in-house materials, check them out to your account, and will leave them on the Information Commons Desk for pickup three times daily:

10:00am-11:30am and 2:00-3:30pm, Monday-Friday. No Saturday retrieval or pick up.

Patrons will only be allowed to access the first floor to acquire materials.

Procedures for requesting in-house library materials are the following:

  1. Via the electronic catalog: When viewing a needed item record in the catalog, click on the RED “Text This To Me” button at the right of the record. You will then be asked to enter your cell number and carrier, then click the RED “Text it to me” button. You will receive a completed “MSG: (title) by author.” Collect the messages and email them to librarians, or, or Librarians will pull your requested materials from the stacks and email you in return for the best time to pick up your materials.
  2. Via email: You can submit an email at any time you have a list of materials you need pulled from the stacks. Please be sure to consult the electronic catalog first before emailing your list. Including call numbers will be helpful.
  3. Via telephone: Call the circulation desk at (318)869-5047 or the information desk at (318) 869-5058 to speak to a staff member about your item needs. If no answer, please leave a detailed message describing your material needs.

All items can be returned by the outside book drop or during library open hours at the circulation desk.
Library staff will continue to provide reference and research assistance remotely by phone (318) 869-5058, or email to faculty and students at any time. If you are looking for a particular staff member, please consult the “Contact Us” web page on Magale’s main website page.
