Magale Fest was held March 9.

Celebrate libraries and learning in a festive atmosphere featuring live music at the Shell, readings at the Library, food and beverages from great local food trucks, and carnival-style games and activities on the Quad!

                           
What's happening at Magale Fest?

  • Beginning at 3, enjoy food from some great local vendors, including Cajun Asian and Taqueria el Eden
  • From 3 PM on, beer and wine sales (for those 21 and older) will be provided by Shreveport's Thrifty Liquor
  • From 3 PM on, come make communal art with local artist Jessie Bonnevier on Magale's first floor
  • Starting at 3:30 PM, join Centenary education students for Storytime inside Magale Library 
    • Readings will include a variety of multicultural children's picture books and selections from Dr. Suess, Shell Silverstein,  Ezra Jack Keats, Tommy dePaola, Laura Jorge Numeroff, and other well-known children's literature authors. 
  • Live Music from Centenary alumna A.J. Haynes and other talented guests in Centenary's iconic Hargrove Memorial Amphitheatre (also known as The Shell)

  • Starting at 3 and going until we drop, Magale Fest features two pavilions on Centenary's beautiful Quad, featuring:
    • A screech owl and a hognose snake, courtesy of the Walter B Jacobs nature park!
    • Football toss with Frost School of Business
    • Cornhole with the Library
    • Facepainting with Outreach
    • Snacks with Northside Hall Council
    • Big Wordle with English Department
    • History of Magale Library from the Archives
    • Dogdays trivia with Dr. Grove 
    • Tattoos from ZTA
    • Horseshoes!
    • Throughout the day in Magale's front gallery, see DNA-inspired student art installation from the Biology program
    • 10 totebags featuring fab prizes will be raffled off to lucky guests throughout the event!

Sarah Quintana

A fierce guitarist with an angelic voice— Nola singer songwriter Sarah Quintana weaves the rich influences of cajun, jazz and folk music into her music. Quintana is looking back on a decade of music--collaborations with Louisiana-based artists like Michael Doucet, Leyla McCalla, The New Orleans Moonshiners and looking forward to releasing her next, full-length solo-album in 2024.
