Centenary announces summer piano preparatory program

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College’s Hurley School of Music announces enrollment for the 2024 summer session of the Centenary Piano Preparatory Program (CPPP), offering a special series of piano lessons in June and July. Students may choose between a four-week or six-week session. Lessons will be scheduled flexibly within the months of June and July, based on student and teacher availability. Students aged 5-18 of all levels- beginner, intermediate, and advanced- are eligible for the program.

The CPPP has two teaching studios. Cara Lamb, Program Director, is an alumna of Centenary College and has been teaching piano for over ten years. She earned her bachelor of music degree in piano performance from the Hurley School of Music and master of music degree in piano performance from Northwestern State University of Louisiana. She is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association and an officer in the Greater Shreveport Music Teachers Association.

Rene Todaro began teaching piano lessons in 2001 in the Dallas metroplex and has ten years of public school teaching experience. She received a bachelor of science degree in music from Texas A&M University - Commerce in 2008. She studied with Dr. Andrew Parr at Stephen F. Austin University and Dr. Luis Sanchez at Texas A&M University - Commerce. She collaborates with families to create an engaging plan, tailoring piano instruction to each student to improve their skills.

Tuition ranges from $150 for half-hour lessons during the four-week session to $450 for hour lessons during the six-week session. Tuition may be paid online at centenary.edu/pianopreppayment or by check or cash at the Hurley School of Music, 2911 Centenary Boulevard, Shreveport, LA 71104. Tuition must be completed by May 15th to enroll.

CPPP also offers weekly private lessons for the regular school year, consisting of two 19-week semesters. Each semester students are given opportunities to participate in local piano festivals and competitions and give group recitals in the Anderson Auditorium at Centenary College’s Hurley School of Music.
