Centenary College celebrates Founders’ Day Convocation; rededicates bell tower
SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College’s annual Founders’ Day observance will be Thursday, February 26, at 11:00 a.m. in Brown Chapel. The convocation celebrates the College’s long history and highlights achievements by faulty and staff. Dr. David Hobson (’98), A.C “Cheesy” Voran Choir Director, will be the keynote speaker, and there will be a special rededication of the College’s bell tower.
College President Dr. Christopher Holoman and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Karen Soul will announce service pins for faculty and staff along with announcing several special annual awards such as the President’s Excellence Award and the Outstanding Teacher Award.Q

Dr. Holoman will also rededicate the bell tower as the “Bicentennial Bell Tower and Carillon Bells,” in honor of the College’s recent 200th anniversary. Alumni Vickie Moore Young (’75) and Paul Young (’76) graciously donated money to repair the bells and to add more lighting to showcase the tower at night. A new plaque will be installed honoring their gift. Its inscription will say “This tower stands as a lasting symbol of the College’s history, traditions, and enduring commitment to learning, faith, and service.”
