Centenary College Cuts the Ribbon on New Mickle Hall Entrance
Centenary College of Louisiana cut the ribbon on a new phase of Mickle Hall's renovations on Tuesday, August 25, marking the completion of new ADA-compliant ramps into the science building. The ramps not only make access more convenient, but the project also created a completely new entrance to Mickle from The Quad.
Centenary President Dr. Christopher Holoman said this is a step in the right direction as the college continues to progress toward a new era of Mickle Hall. Currently, the health sciences draw a significant number of students to Centenary College. In fact, the pre-med program enjoys a 94 percent acceptance rate to medical school.
"The refreshing, the updating, the modernization of our science facilities generally has been on the radar and in the plans for decades. Today we mark a beginning," said Holoman.
Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux was on hand to help cut the ribbon. Mickle was built nearly eighty years ago, and over the next few years will undergo a major transformation, turning it into a state-of-the-art facility.
"I believe that Mickle Hall is an anchor," said Ross Barrett, chairman of Centenary's Board of Trustees. "It's an anchor that will attract students, that will attract researchers, and attract the next generation of doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals."
