Centenary names more than 30 into leadership honor society Omicron Delta Kappa
More than two dozen Centenary College of Louisiana students were initiated into the prestigious Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) Beta Pi Circle on Thursday, November 6, in Brown Chapel. Along with them, Centenary President Dr. Christopher Holoman was named as the 2025 Honorary Member.
“While I am honored to be recognized, the focus of this ceremony is the great achievements of these Centenary students,” said Dr. Holoman. “We are so proud to celebrate their hard work and commitment and look forward to their successes in the future, both here at Centenary and in their next endeavors.”
ODK is the National Leadership Honor Society founded in 1914 at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. The founders believed that leadership of exceptional quality and versatility should be recognized. ODK was the first college honor society of a national scope to recognize and honor meritorious leadership and service in extracurricular activities and encourage development of campus citizenship. The Centenary chapter is one of the oldest in the nation, dating back to 1949. Members work together to uphold ideals of scholarship, service, integrity, character, and fellowship.
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors with GPAs in the top 35% of their respective classes are eligible to apply for selection into ODK. The society’s five pillars of leadership include academics and research, athletics, service to campus and community, communications, and creative and performing arts.
