‘Centenary Promise’ loan repayment assistance program to continue

After a successful launch in 2024, Centenary College of Louisiana has decided to continue the Centenary Promise, a loan repayment assistance program (LRAP) available to all first-year students at the College. The program assists Centenary graduates in repaying their federal student, parent PLUS, and private alternative loans if their income after graduation is below $50,000.

“At Centenary, we believe that investing in a college education should open doors, not create burdens,” said Lauren Hawkins, director of admission. “The Centenary Promise reflects that commitment by helping graduates manage their loan payment and begin their careers with confidence. It’s one way we ensure students can focus on building meaningful lives and careers, knowing Centenary’s support doesn’t end at graduation.”

Centenary is the only college in Louisiana or Texas to offer loan repayment assistance to all first-year students. The Centenary Promise program is designed to make higher education more accessible and affordable for students and families and reaffirms the College’s commitment to educational access and student success.

Centenary has partnered with Ardeo Education Solutions to offer the Centenary Promise at no cost to students or families. The loan repayment assistance available through the Centenary Promise will continue until the graduate’s income exceeds $50,000 or until their loans are completely paid off.

Graduates must meet the following requirements to qualify for reimbursements through the Centenary Promise program:

  • Graduate from Centenary College
  • Work a minimum of 30 hours per week after graduation
  • Have an annual income of less than $50,000
  • Begin making loan payments after graduation

The Centenary Promise program has already helped some applicants feel more confident about making the commitment to pursue a college degree at Centenary.

“College is a big dream of mine, but the cost has always been something that worried me,” shared one applicant. “The Loan Repayment Assistance Program gives me peace of mind as I prepare to take my next steps after high school.”

The first step in receiving the Centenary Promise award is applying to Centenary. The free Centenary application is now open at centenary.edu/apply. New students must pay their enrollment deposit and sign their LRAP award by May 1.
