Centenary’s STUNT team competes at home for first time in program history

The Centenary College STUNT team will compete at home for the first time in program history on Sunday. Super STUNT Sunday in the Gold Dome promises to be memorable with three matches. The Ladies will play two matches. The first at 10:00 a.m. against Muskingum University from Concord, OH.  Muskingum and McNeese State University from Lake Charles, La., will face each other at 11:30 a.m.  At 1:00 p.m., Centenary competes against McNeese.

At the 2026 NCAA Convention last month, all three divisions voted to approve STUNT becoming an NCAA championship sport with its first NCAA championship projected for spring 2027. STUNT transforms traditional cheerleading skills into a head-to-head, four-quarter format emphasizing athleticism and precision. Teams compete in partner stunts, pyramids, and jumps and tumbling, with points awarded based on execution. The sport is governed at the collegiate level by USA Cheer and continues to grow through robust high school and club pipelines.

This is the second season for the Ladies’ STUNT team. The Ladies opened this season in the McNeese Tournament, last Sunday, as they played three matches against host McNeese, Texas Woman's University and Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

The Ladies, who were eighth in the country in the division III preseason rankings, finished eighth nationally out of 13 teams last season. Centenary, which was ranked seventh in the preseason in 2025, is the first and only NCAA Varsity STUNT team in the state of Louisiana.  McNeese is a club team. As the only DIII team in the south, the Ladies were forced to play cross divisional the entire 2025 season.
