Centenary Affordability Pledge

The Centenary Affordability Pledge (CAP) will provide full tuition coverage for all new, incoming Louisiana students who are Pell Grant and TOPS eligible. The College will cover any tuition expenses that remain after the Pell and TOPS awards have been applied.

Academic Scholarships

All first degree undergraduate applicants to Centenary are automatically considered for academic merit scholarships. These scholarships are renewable for up to three years for students who remain in good standing.

Louisiana TOPS

 

Louisiana's Tuition Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) is a comprehensive state scholarship program that can be applied to your Centenary education. Eligibility and award amounts are determined by the state, so the program is subject to legislative revision and funding issues.

Criteria to maintain eligibility:

  • An eligible student must achieve at least a 2.0 GPA their first semester to continue their eligibility for the following spring. Any dual enrollment from high school will be included in this GPA.
  • At the end of the academic year, the student with under 48 cumulative hours must maintain at least a 2.3 cumulative GPA. After earning 48 cumulative hours, the student must maintain at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA.
  • Performance, Honor or Excellence eligible students who do not maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA will continue at the Opportunity level.
  • If eligibility is lost due to low GPA and a cumulative 2.5 GPA is regained within 24 months, the award will be reinstated at the Opportunity level.
  • Failure to enroll full time, maintain continuous enrollment, or earn 24 hours in an academic year will result in cancellation of the award, and cannot be reinstated without an Approved Request for Exception to the Initial, Full-Time or Continuous Enrollment, and/or 24 Hour Requirement.
  • For Centenary purposes, an academic year is defined as fall semester (including August term), spring semester, May term, summer school.  Summer school at any Louisiana college or university may be used to achieve the 24 hour or cumulative GPA requirement.
  • Centenary courses that are replaced by repeating the course are still counted by the state for cumulative GPA purposes.

Artistic merit/talent awards are determined through audition or portfolio review by art, music, and theater faculty.

The Federal Direct Student and Parent Loans is a low-interest loan designed to help students bridge gaps between scholarships and the cost of attendance.  Private Loans are also an alternative to parent loans.
