For the seventh consecutive year, Centenary College will reach out to friends and supporters on Giving Tuesday, a nationwide, online day of philanthropy. Held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday follows the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This year’s Giving Tuesday observance is November 30.

Centenary raised over $153,000 on Giving Tuesday in 2020 and hopes to exceed that total in 2021 with a goal of $175,000 to support student scholarships and other campus needs.

Centenary’s Director of Development, Mark Missildine, is excited about the opportunities that a successful Giving Tuesday represents. “Centenary is extremely thankful for the continued support of our alumni, faculty and staff, board of trustees, community partners, and other friends. Your gift impacts the lives of our students. With every gift, you move the life changing mission of Centenary College another mile,” said Missildine.

Giving Tuesday will kick off at 8:00 a.m. with a live event on Facebook followed by updates throughout the day. The live feed will be available on both the main Centenary College of Louisiana page and the Centenary College Alumni Association page.

The Giving Tuesday effort relies primarily on social media and email appeals encouraging community members to join the online giving effort. This year, a few other areas of campus plan on joining in on the fun to make the day both memorable and eventful.
