Established in 1985, the Women’s Endowment Quorum (WEQ) has continued to be a pillar of support for the Centenary campus. Being a part of this unique group requires little time but is highly enjoyable; in addition to annual luncheons and receptions, there are opportunities for theatre, art, and social gatherings on the Centenary campus. Invitations to special College events, such as the President’s Circle reception, are also routinely extended to Quorum members.

The WEQ has contributed more than $1 million dollars to Centenary College through dues from its members and donations. Membership requires a minimum annual contribution of $1,000 and is open to members of the community who believe in the vital and historic mission of Centenary College. Many utilize the WEQ to show their support for the College and pool their gifts with others in order to have a greater impact. Centenary offers support to the WEQ through assistance in organization and social planning and makes sure that WEQ members remain informed about the College and about new initiatives and activities of interest to the Centenary community.

The WEQ continues to find new ways to support special projects that benefit students at Centenary College. Most recently, the WEQ helped remodel the Hargrove Band Shell and funded the preparation of long-range architectural plans for the campus. In the past, they have also endowed the upkeep of the Rotary Hall lobby and endowed a scholarship for first-generation college students named after Dorothy Bird Guin, a former Dean of the College.

“The WEQ is pleased to announce that we have voted to contribute $50,000 toward a new Field House which will support both women’s sports and the new football team at Centenary,” said Gale Odom, WEQ President. The WEQ name will be on the new women’s locker room.  The old Dental Arts Building, behind the former George’s Grill on Woodlawn, will be remodeled into this new Field House, which is adjacent to the Gold Dome.  “We look forward to seeing this exciting project come to life, ”said Odom.
