Centenary’s Dr. Briana Sosenheimer completes Vocology program

Centenary College’s Hurley School of Music is proud to announce that Dr. Briana Sosenheimer has completed the internationally recognized Summer Vocology Institute (SVI) at the University of Utah. Hosted by the Utah Center for Vocology and conducted in collaboration with the National Center for Voice & Speech, SVI is an intensive and interdisciplinary program focused on the science and practice of voice habilitation.

Dr. Sosenheimer's participation in SVI was supported by a Faculty Research Award from Centenary College of Louisiana. In addition, she was honored as the 2025 Voice Pedagogy Award winner by the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).

"Attending the Summer Vocology Institute was a major milestone on my professional bucket list, and I'm grateful to have finally participated,” said Dr. Sosenheimer. “Teaching vocal pedagogy at Centenary sparked a deeper passion to expand my knowledge, and this program exceeded all expectations. The faculty were outstanding, knowledgeable, passionate, and generous with mentorship. I explored diverse areas, including principles of voice production, instrumentation, voice habilitation, and voice for performers, which will directly enhance my teaching and work with singers."

Soseneheimer is excited to share what she learned with her students and the broader Shreveport community. She plans to build on her SVI training by becoming a recognized vocologist through the Pan American Vocology Association (PAVA).

“My goal is to help singers and performers develop and maintain healthy, expressive voices throughout their careers,” she said.
