Meet the Dean of DEI/Chief Diversity Officer

Dr. Latoya Pierce serves as Centenary’s founding Dean for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer. Dr. Pierce brings decades of experience in higher education and has served in multiple roles as a faculty member, department chair, and interim dean. The depth of her DEI experience includes serving as a SME (subject matter expert) for the UL System, a commission member for the A-10 Commission on Racial Equity, a member of the President’s Council on Diversity at St. Bonaventure University, and number of publications and presentations related to diversity. Dr. Pierce believes that “diversity intersects with all of our lived experiences, both directly and indirectly. It shapes our cultural lens, and how we see ourselves in the world. To quote Jacqueline Woodson, diversity is about all of us, and about us having to figure out how to walk through this world together. “
