I am the product of a military family. We traveled extensively in Europe and the United States and settled in Bossier City because of Barksdale Air Force Base. I graduated from Bossier High School in 1973 and later attended and graduated from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Louisiana Tech University, and Vanderbilt University. I was the first person in my immediate family to graduate from college.

I have been an educator in Caddo and Bossier Parishes for almost 32 years. During that time, I have been a classroom teacher (13 years), high school assistant principal (3 years), parish-wide supervisor (8 years), community college staff member (2 years), and a parish director (5 years). I also have taught at Centenary College as an adjunct instructor since January, 2002. My other professional duties include being a past officer in Phi Delta Kappa (an educational association), currently elected Trustee on the Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana, and acting as a contributing educator to LaSIP projects at Centenary College under the tutelage of Dr. Scott Vetter. My community involvement includes being a director for the Bossier Federal Credit Union for 11 years and volunteering for 22 consecutive years with the Centenary Book Sale fundraiser.
