Sarah Fortenberry currently serves as a faculty member at Centenary College, teaching applied Voice. Sarah holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Mississippi College in Clinton, MS. While attending Mississippi College, she studied under the direction of Viola Dacus. During Sarah’s time at Mississippi College, she received numerous awards, including an invitation to sing at Mississippi College’s Honors Recital with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. She was also a Regional NATS winner in the upper graduate-level division. She participated in opera productions by Opera Mississippi and was a featured soloist for the world-renowned Mississippi College Singers, singing all over the country and at Carnegie Hall. Sarah also held the title of graduate assistant while attending Mississippi College on scholarship.

Sarah attended Louisiana College for her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. She studied under the mentorship and guidance of Loryn Frey while at Louisiana College and won the prestigious Alsup Vocal Award for three consecutive years. During her studies at Louisiana College, Sarah performed the roles of Fiordiligi in Mozart’s “Cosi fan tutte,” Countess Almaviva in Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro,” and several leading roles in opera scene productions and musical theater productions. Sarah is classified as a full lyric soprano and enjoys teaching in the Shreveport area. She has taught applied voice in various cities across Louisiana and Mississippi since 2010. She also teaches applied voice at Bossier Parish Community College. Sarah is married to Jeremy Fortenberry, and together they parent three children. They lead the music ministry together at Summer Grove Baptist Church, where Jeremy serves as Worship Ministry Pastor.
