1. The course will explore the fundamental principles governing matter, energy and their interrelations and transformations.
  2. The course will demonstrate the specific laws, theories, and hypotheses in the natural sciences and show their basis in objectively measurable phenomena revealed through the application of the scientific method.
  3. The course will utilize mathematics in describing and understanding the natural world.
  4. The course will include laboratory experiences designed to teach methods of inquiry, illustrate scientific principles, and increase the students' confidence and competence as independent scientists.
