The Meadows Museum at Centenary College launched a membership program in October 2021, replacing its previous program, the Friends of the Meadows Museum. The goal of the memberships program is to reconnect with the museum's dedicated supporters and draw in new individuals who support the arts on campus and in the local community.

“After the friends' group disbanded and fundraising was taken under the wing of the development department, it was obvious that there was a gap. There were so many friends that were dedicated to supporting the museum financially, but also with their time for years,” said Alissa Klaus, Director of the Meadows Museum.

The program has brought new life to the museum and has provided opportunities for students to showcase their talents and participate in curating exhibitions. Currently, the Meadows Museum has 34 paid members and 117 student members (69 of which are Centenary students and 48 local high school students). The impact of new memberships is still uncertain due to the recent hit in museum attendance from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Klaus is confident in the success of the membership program and has seen positive results in member attendance at events.

Klaus believes that the membership program has helped bring awareness back to the museum and has helped gain momentum from reopening after the pandemic. She is working to build energy around memberships and exhibitions by inviting members to early event openings.
