Left to their own devices by their alcoholic mother, Ada and Sam cultivate an insular world into which they soon draw a third wheel—a pockmarked, limping wallflower named Dorrie. In the years spanning childhood to young adulthood, these three troubled girls learn to lean on each other completely, finding ways to fill each other up and tear each other down. But when a horrible accident upends their reality, they find they must decide whether to continue to foster their codependent cycle, or to break free, with or without each other’s aid.

Dr. Chrissy Martin will give a reading celebrating the release of her debut poetry collection, _Whole, Holy, Hot_ (Write Bloody Publishing). The book engages pop culture, glamour, gender performance, faith, mental illness, disability, and the body through poems that blend critical inquiry with humor, camp, and play. The reading will be followed by a brief Q&A, book signing, and reception.

The Family Reunion is a community-based event that invites everyone to enjoy delicious food from local black owned businesses, engage in various field games, listen to music, and enjoy the company of others. The main objective of this event is to bring the campus community and the Shreveport community together through music, fun, and games. We would love to see everyone there.
